Frequently asked questions.
What types of clients do you work with?
We work with individuals, couples, and professionals who are navigating transition, relational strain, or a deeper sense that something in their life no longer fits. Many of our clients are high-functioning and insightful, but feel stuck, disconnected, or at odds with the lives they've built. If you're ready to engage with depth and intention, you're in the right place.
What issues do you specialize in?
We specialize in identity development, relational conflict, burnout, perfectionism, high-performance stress, and major life transitions. Our work often focuses on clients who are doing “well enough” externally but feel misaligned internally—and want to do something about it.
Do you accept insurance?
Forge & Form Therapy is a private pay practice and does not participate with insurance networks. However, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?
Individual and couples sessions are typically 45 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly sessions, but frequency may shift depending on your goals and progress. Intensives and group formats vary in length and structure.
How is therapy different from coaching?
Therapy tends to focus on emotional patterns, relational dynamics, and personal history. Coaching is more future-focused and action-oriented, often centered around identity, leadership, and purpose in the context of work and creativity. We’ll determine together which approach fits best—or whether a hybrid model serves you.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for clients located in Virginia and other states where we are authorized to practice. Coaching services may be available across state lines.
What happens in a couple’s intensive?
Couples intensives are immersive, high-impact sessions designed to help you move through stuck dynamics quickly. We slow the pace, go deeper, and structure the time to focus on what really needs attention. Each intensive is customized and begins with a short assessment to shape the agenda.
Can you prescribe medication?
No—we do not prescribe medication. Our work focuses on talk therapy and relational process, not pharmacological treatment.
If we decide that medication might be a helpful part of your care, we can refer you to a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or primary care provider who specializes in medication management. We are also happy to coordinate with your prescriber to support an integrated approach to your care.
Can you formally diagnose me?
No—for formal diagnostic evaluations, you’ll want to work with a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. While we can offer clinical impressions based on our work together, we do not conduct formal diagnostic assessments.
At Forge & Form Therapy, the focus is less on diagnosis and more on understanding your patterns, context, and capacity for change. If a formal diagnosis becomes relevant for your care or access to services, we are happy to refer you to a trusted provider who can offer that evaluation.
How do I know if this is the right fit for me?
The best way to find out is to schedule a brief free consultation call. There’s no pressure. The goal is to explore whether working together feels aligned for what you’re carrying—and what you want to move toward.
