From your first conversation with us, you can expect to be met with genuine curiosity, real attention, and a team that is invested in understanding you, not just your presenting problem.

Here is what to expect when you get started.

Where it begins

A Personal Welcome

Cozy modern therapy office with armchairs, sofa, lamps, mirror, and numerous potted plants overlooking city buildings.

When you reach out, you'll hear directly from our practice owner: a personal welcome and an introduction to a clinician whose expertise fits what you're bringing in. From there, we'll set up a free 15- to 30-minute introductory call.

That call is yours to use however you need. Meet your prospective clinician, ask questions, get a feel for how they work. They'll want to understand what's bringing you in and make sure their approach is the right fit for your concerns. But fit runs both ways. You're under no obligation to move forward with the clinician you meet, during that call or at any point after it. If something doesn't feel right, tell us. We'll help you find someone who does.

Preparing to Begin

If you decide to move forward, your clinician will set up your account in TheraNest, our client portal, using a few basics: your preferred name, phone number, email, mailing address, and date of birth. Once that's in place, we'll schedule your first session and send your intake paperwork through the portal. Please complete it before your appointment. It gives your clinician a real starting point before you walk in.

The introductory call is free. Your first session and everything after it are paid appointments. Your intake paperwork will include a Good Faith Estimate along with session fees, payment terms, and cancellation policies, reviewed before you begin so there are no surprises.

Your First Session

Your first session is about laying the groundwork. Your clinician will walk through informed consent, explain confidentiality and where its limits are, and give you a clear picture of what the process looks like. You'll have time to ask questions and clear up anything from your intake paperwork.

Your privacy matters here. What you share stays confidential, with limited exceptions required by law. Your clinician will explain those clearly, and they're covered in your intake paperwork too.

Then the conversation turns to you: what brought you in, what you've been carrying, what you want to be different.

Building Something That Works

The first few sessions are about understanding who you are, what you've experienced, what matters to you, and where you want to go. You and your clinician will explore patterns, strengths, and goals together and shape an approach that fits your specific situation. The pace depends on you. The support starts now.

A good therapeutic relationship isn't just about getting along with your clinician. It's about trust, honest collaboration, and a shared sense of where you're headed. We want you to be able to say when something isn't landing, ask the hard questions, and tell us when the work needs to shift. You don't owe your clinician agreement or continued sessions. Your feedback shapes the work. Your needs stay the priority.
