Our Services

Rooted in evidence-based practice, our offerings blend clinical expertise with understated elegance, ensuring each interaction feels purposeful.

From private therapy to thoughtfully crafted experiences, we cultivate spaces where mental wellness can flourish.

Individual Psychotherapy

This is one-on-one work in the most honest sense of that phrase. Not a space to be managed or redirected toward feeling better as quickly as possible, but a space to actually understand what's driving the patterns, the reactivity, the quiet dissatisfaction, or the sense that something is off even when everything looks fine from the outside.

Individual therapy at Forge & Form is built around the belief that insight without application is just an interesting idea. We work with people who are ready to close the gap between the two: to move from understanding their patterns to genuinely changing them. Sessions are focused, honest, and tailored to what you're actually dealing with, not a generic framework applied to a specific life.

We work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, identity questions, grief, relational difficulty, and the particular exhaustion that comes from being high-functioning and quietly struggling at the same time. If you've been waiting to feel ready, this is where you start.

Relational Psychotherapy

Your relationship doesn’t have to follow a conventional format to deserve thoughtful, skilled care. At Forge & Form, relational work brings partners together to understand what’s happening between them, address what isn’t working, and decide what they want to build. We work with couples, throuples, and people in consensually nonmonogamous and other relationship structures.

You may be having the same argument without getting anywhere, navigating changes in intimacy or commitment, repairing a breach of trust, or trying to make room for needs that seem incompatible. You may also want to strengthen a relationship that matters to you before problems become entrenched. Whatever brings you in, the work makes space for each person’s experience while examining the patterns you create together.

Drawing from psychodynamic theory, attachment research, and Gottman-informed approaches, we help you understand those patterns and practice different ways of responding to one another. That can mean communicating more directly, negotiating boundaries and agreements, rebuilding trust, or finding your way through difficult decisions about the relationship’s future. We bring honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to name what we see. You define the relationship you want; our work is to help you determine what it takes to make it work for everyone involved.

Group Therapy

There is something that happens in a room of people doing honest work together that cannot be replicated anywhere else. Group therapy is not group support. It is a structured, clinician-facilitated space where the dynamics of real relationships play out in real time, and where the patterns you carry into every room become visible, workable, and changeable.

At Forge & Form, our process groups are designed for people who are ready to go beyond individual insight and engage with the kind of interpersonal feedback that only a group can offer. You will be seen, challenged, and supported by peers and a skilled facilitator who holds the process with both care and rigor.

Group is not a lesser version of individual therapy. For many people, it is the most powerful format available. If you've been doing individual work and feel ready to take it further, or if you're drawn to a relational, community-based approach to growth, this may be the right next step.

Teen and Young Adult Therapy (12+)

Adolescence and early adulthood are not just difficult phases to get through. They are formative periods where identity, self-worth, relational templates, and beliefs about the world are being actively constructed, often under significant pressure and with very few reliable guides.

We work with teens and young adults who are navigating anxiety, academic and social pressure, identity questions, family dynamics, early relational struggles, and the particular disorientation of figuring out who you are and what you actually want in a world that is moving very fast. Our approach is direct and respectful. We treat young people as the capable, complex individuals they are, not as problems to be solved or symptoms to be managed.

For parents: we know this process can feel uncertain. Our goal is to build a genuine therapeutic relationship with your young person, and to keep you appropriately informed and involved in a way that supports rather than undermines the work.

Coaching and Solutions-Focused Therapy

Not every person who walks through our doors needs to excavate their past to move forward. Some people have done the self-reflection work, have a clear sense of what they're working toward, and need a skilled thinking partner to help them close the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Coaching and solutions-focused work at Forge & Form is structured, goal-oriented, and grounded in evidence-based frameworks. It is built for founders navigating high-stakes decisions, executives working to lead more honestly and effectively, athletes managing the psychological demands of performance, and anyone facing a significant transition who wants focused support rather than open-ended exploration.

This is not therapy in the traditional clinical sense, and it is not passive. It is active, precise, and built around real-time goals that are never disconnected from the deeper architecture of your life and work. If you are ready to perform more consciously, lead more honestly, or move through a transition with more clarity and intention, this is where that work gets done.

Relationship Intensives

Some relationship dynamics cannot wait for the weekly session format. When the cycle has accelerated, when trust has been significantly damaged, or when two people simply need focused, uninterrupted time to do meaningful work together, a relationship intensive offers something the standard model cannot: depth without fragmentation.

Relationship intensives at Forge & Form are multi-hour, structured engagements for those who need immediate intervention, want to break an entrenched pattern, or are facing a decision about the future of their relationship and want to make it with as much clarity as possible. They also use it when they are not in crisis but want to invest in their relationship in a meaningful, concentrated way.

This is not a shortcut. It is an accelerant. The work is rigorous and honest, held with precision and care. All parties leave with a clearer understanding of what drives their dynamic, concrete tools to shift it, and a shared language to continue the work after the intensive ends.

Relationship intensives are available by consultation. Reach out to discuss whether this format is the right fit for where you are.

Geography should not be the thing that stands between you and good clinical work. Telehealth at Forge & Form offers the same quality of care, the same depth of engagement, and the same clinical rigor as in-person sessions, through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that fits your life.

Telehealth works particularly well for high-performing professionals whose schedules make consistent in-person appointments difficult, for clients who have relocated but want to maintain an established therapeutic relationship, and for anyone who finds the flexibility of remote sessions removes a meaningful barrier to showing up consistently.

We currently offer telehealth services to clients in Virginia and Washington D.C. If you are unsure whether telehealth is the right fit for your specific situation, we are happy to talk it through during your intro call.

We offer individual and group therapy in both English and Spanish through Dr. Claudia M. Carrera, PsyD. For clients who think, process, and express themselves most naturally in Spanish, working with a bilingual clinician means the language of the room matches the language of your inner life. That matters more than it might sound.

If you’d like to be matched with Dr. Carrera, let us know when you reach out.
